4G12's Post About the Proposed Changes to Advantage

A great point posted by 4G12 on LordSkunk.com YouTube channel, here, talking about Advantage and the potential changes.

The fact that they plan to change advantage from armor penetration to a guaranteed crit is already an admission that the armor stat is almost irrelevant in this game in its current state. But instead of revamping how armor works and how defense up works, they simply slap on a new mechanic, which will only make future balancing even more complicated as the number of variables to tweak increase, making it exponentially more difficult to ensure fun and balanced gameplay.

I've even created a forum thread and I've shown the calculated numbers to prove my point: https://forums.galaxy-of-heroes.starwars.ea.com/discussion/22378/defense-up-needs-to-be-revamped#latest

Just some numbers for reference, using a maxed out CT5555 as an example:

Let's compare defense up vs. no defense up for a given damage, say, 4000:

No Defense Up Damage = 4000 x (1 - ((292) / (292 + 70 x 10))) = 2882
Defense Up Damage = 4000 x (1 - ((292 x 1.5) / (292 x 1.5 + 70 x 10))) = 2460

Doesn't take a math whiz to see how this is a sick joke.

Now let's do the same comparison, but with offense up giving us 4000 x 1.5 = 6000 damage:

No Defense Up Damage = 6000 x (1 - ((292) / (292 + 70 x 10))) = 29= 4234
Defense Up Damage = 6000 x (1 - ((292 x 1.5) / (292 x 1.5 + 70 x 10))) = 3690

BTW, did you know that a maxed out CT5555 has practically identical damage reduction % as a freshly unlocked version of himself?

Level 1, gearless 3 star: Damage Reduction % = (4) / (4 + 1 x 10) x 100 = 28.57%
Level 70 maxed out: Damage Reduction % = (292) / (292 + 70 x 10) x100 = 29.44%

All this in an environment of exponentially growing damage, so is it any surprise how one shotting has become the norm at high level gameplay while the most balanced and fun gameplay happens at low to mid levels?

What they're doing is instead of fixing what's fundamentally wrong and moving ahead with a more solid base, they simply tack on more bolt on fixes in the hopes of better outcomes.

It's like saying: "Oh, underpowered engine? No problem! Bolt on a GIANT turbo! Oh wait, that'll cause too much turbo lag... No problem! Add a supercharger for low rev performance! Oh wait, now the system is so mechanically complicated it's a maintenance nightmare with so many points of failure..."
